Living Aboard A Sailboat

Dinghy Ride Out To The Backcountry

From the mooring field you can see a number of mangrove islands off to the northeast. They are about 4 – 5 miles away and don’t look like much. With the new dinghy motor providing me a little more range I decided to head out there on a pre-dawn Sunday excursion to get an angel for a sunrise shot that didn’t include buildings and stuff in the way.

Mother Ship To Bird Island (my name for it)

I was pleasantly surprised at how much wildlife there was on the first island. As the sun rose over the storm clouds the birds became active, diving for fish and moving around to where they wanted to spend the day.

I motored the dinghy to the west of the island and then killed the engine. I let the slight breeze push me past the island at a gentle pace. It was quite a relaxing day.

I did a lot of overshooting (taking more than one frame of the same shot) due to the low light and shooting from a moving platform so I had over 300 frames to go through to get the gallery below. Enjoy!
